ABOUT THE RAVEN NATION MARCHING BAND

The Sussex Technical High School “Raven Nation” Marching Band features over 125 students representing nearly all of the vocational study areas offered at Sussex Tech. The band is comprised of the Raven Nation instrumentalists, the "ST X-Press" drumline, "Reflections" colorguard, and the "Platinum" Pom Pom dance team.

In its short history, the Raven Nation has performed across the country, including performances at the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in 2011, at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in the Main Street Electrical Parade in 2015, and at Penn State University’s "Unrivaled" Band Jam in September of 2015.

Most recently, the band performed in the 255th annual New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade in March of 2016. The Raven Nation traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana and performed during halftime of the Allstate Sugar Bowl in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and came in first place in Class AA for the Sugar Bowl Field Show Competition, including winning all caption awards.

In December 2018, the band traveled to Atlanta, GA. They performed and compete at the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.

The band is currently under the direction of G. Batten. If you wish to support the program, visit our Sponsors page to see ways that you can support the hard-working students in the Raven Nation!
