Update #11 - Sunday, October 7, 2018

GAME WEEK #6: AWAY at DOVER HS

General Announcements & Notes:

  • Thank you for another successful Friday night. The game against Central was a glimpse into the atmosphere we will be experiencing at Dover HS and then two weeks later when Smyrna HS comes to Tech. I was very happy to hear reports that cell phone use was at a minimum during the game, and behavior was generally very good. The little things really do add up! We still have quite a bit of work to do over the next few weeks!

  • The rest of October is the peak of our fall marching season. Between the Friday games, rehearsals, and parades, we need everyone on board, and then things will begin to scale back a bit in early November before we have one last push for holiday parades & Peach Bowl preparations. It's going to go by extremely fast...

  • I can not stress enough how important it is to be doing everything you can to be at every rehearsal. This means outside of band you are achieving in your classes and taking care of yourself so you can avoid having to miss rehearsal for Tech Coaching due to poor grades or absences for illnesses. We have had a few cases of strep throat, and a few viral illnesses going around. Please be sure to disinfect your mouthpieces and wash your hands after rehearsal.

  • Please do not come down to the band room or Room 690 during the school day asking for a water bottle. The water is meant to be given out during rehearsals and performances only, not after your gym classes. Please bring a container from home to school and fill up at the water bottle filling stations around the school.

6. PARENT UPDATE – “Beats from the Boosters”

Evening everyone! Made it through our home game streak thanks to all our volunteers who baked, set-up, tore down, drove the band truck, sewed buttons, delivered food, served food, cleaned up, and watered our band kids! Shew, we did a few things, right? It could not have been done without YOU! Thanks!!

Now it’s on to 2 weeks of away games – Dover and CR. Don’t forget our band booster meeting this Tuesday! Come see what we have been up to and what is coming up for the rest of football season! If you didn’t stop by our booster table these last 2 weeks, you missed out! All of the new apparel is in and it looks great! The beanies and ball caps are going quick, AND we have an ST blanket that is sure to be a hit when fall finally decides to arrive! Bonus – a huge shout out to Mr. Morroni for making two wheeled cabinets to store our apparel! The cardboard boxes were disappearing quickly as items found a home on shelves last week. It looks super sharp – THANKS!!

  • Booster meeting is Tuesday, 10/9, at 6:30 in the band room.

  • First parade of the season! Milford Community parade is Wednesday 10/17. Stay tuned for more information and look on Charms to ride the bus and march with us!

  • October is for Krispy Kreme Donuts! Keep collecting orders! These are due 10/18. Donuts not your thing? (I forgive you!) They have 1 lb. coffee bags – it’s good and I like using them as gifts over the holidays!

  • Our last 2 home games are 10/26 and 11/2 (senior night).

  • Our gift card wreath is looking great – be sure to stop by the booster table to buy raffle entries! We are continuing to add to the wreath – up to $400 worth of cards currently. Raffle entries may also be purchased at the booster meeting – just need money and contact information!

  • On-going fundraisers – time to start thinking about Christmas shopping and stocking stuffing!

    • Wa-Wa hoagie cards – see Larry, he would love to hook you up with some!

    • Scrip Gift cards – check out the flier on Charms – fill it out and turn it in with a check – we will send you the cards. Shopping is easy!

  • These fundraisers help to decrease the total cost of trips planned for the band and help to keep the band running smoothly.

  • Email us below if you need any of the fundraiser order forms/fliers.

  • Make sure you have signed up and/or downloaded the Charms app. It is our go-to for volunteering and planning around calendar events!
